FedEx “Clearance delay”: what it means
A clearance delay means the package is waiting for customs to finish their checks before FedEx can deliver it.
Why it happens
Customs may need more paperwork from the sender, a value or description checked, or duties and taxes paid. Sometimes there's simply a backlog.
Do you need to do anything?
Only if FedEx contacts you directly, by email or text from fedex.com, asking for information or payment. Be careful: fake “customs fee” texts are a common scam. Check by entering the tracking number on fedex.com yourself.
How long it lasts
Usually one to three business days. More on what customs holds mean.
