USPS “Return to sender”: what it means
“Return to sender” means USPS is sending the package back to whoever mailed it.
Why it happens
- The address was wrong, incomplete or couldn't be delivered to.
- It sat at the post office unclaimed for about 15 days.
- Someone refused it, or there was postage due.
Can you stop it?
Once it says return to sender, usually not. Call or visit your local post office right away and ask; occasionally they can still catch it.
What to do
Contact the seller. They'll get it back and can reship it to the correct address or refund you. The trip back takes about as long as the trip out.
