“Label created” but not moving
“Label created” means the seller has made and paid for a shipping label, but the carrier hasn't scanned the package yet.
What it really means
Printing a label tells the carrier a package is coming. It doesn't mean the carrier has it. Until someone scans the package at pickup or drop-off, there is no location to show, so tracking sits on that first line.
How it looks on each carrier
- USPS: “Label Created, not yet in system” or “Pre-Shipment”.
- UPS: “Shipper created a label, UPS has not received the package yet.”
- FedEx: “Label created” or “Shipment information sent to FedEx”.
How long is normal
Usually one or two business days. Sellers often print labels in batches and hand packages over on the next pickup. Weekends and holidays add time, and so do busy shopping weeks.
When to do something
- After three or four business days with no scan, message the seller and ask whether it has actually been handed to the carrier.
- On resale apps like Depop, eBay, Etsy, Poshmark or Mercari, the app's own support can nudge the seller or cancel if it never ships.
- Double-check the number. A typo looks exactly the same as a label nobody has scanned.
