FedEx “Delivery exception”: what it means
A FedEx delivery exception means the driver couldn't deliver the package as planned.
Common reasons
- Nobody was there to sign, or the business was closed.
- The address was incomplete or the driver couldn't get in.
- Weather, or the driver ran out of time.
What to do
Check the reason under the exception. For a missed signature, FedEx tries again the next business day; you can sign online or ask for it to be held at a FedEx location. For an address problem, contact FedEx right away with the right details.
What if nobody acts
FedEx usually tries up to three times, then holds the package for a few days before returning it to the sender.
