DHL “Shipment on hold”: what it means
“Shipment on hold” means DHL has paused the package, usually because something needs sorting out before it can continue.
Common reasons
- Customs needs documents, or duties and taxes need paying.
- An address or phone number is missing or wrong.
- You asked for the delivery to be changed or held.
What to do
Look for an email or text from DHL, and check the tracking page on dhl.com for an “action required” note. If there isn't one after two business days, contact DHL or the sender.
Watch out for scams
DHL only asks for payment through dhl.com or its official app. Ignore texts with other links.
